WHO IS NINJA KID?!

When many people hear the name ninja kid it is easily related to Maninja and the Ninja president Winky D. Although the name is familiar within the ZimDanceHall circles ninja who was born Shelton Jack Masvii on 1st July 1994 and is the last born in the family of 5. He grew up in Chitungwiza which is known as the heart of ZimDanceHall in Zimbabwe which has also produced artists such as Guspy Warrior and Dadza D.

He burst on to the scene in 2012 and has not stopped with many hit songs like Ndofira Kureva, Hatiende Kumba and Ndini Ninja Kid Wacho. ZimDanceHall is a competitive industry in a small market and Ninja has held his own by impressing crowds with his lyrical talent and stage presence. He made his way onto the ZimDanceHall arena with singles and appearances in the Zimbo Flavour, Demolition, and Diffusion riddim medleys. Since the Chitungwiza native has been a regular feature on ridimms across the nation from top producers and continues to work hard to reach his goals. Inspired by Winky D and I-octane the versatile ninja signed to Abra tribe in January 2014 and with the productions of African award winner Jusa Dementor and guidance of Abra Simzz, ninja looks more than ready to become a seasoned veteran within the Zimbabwean music industry.

After listening to Ninja Kid - Ndini Ninja Kid Wacho I wanted to find out more about this ZimDancehall artist, and had an opportunity to ask a few questions.

Tynie: What inspired you to join the music industry as a ZimDancehall artist?
Ninja: I was inspired by I-octane and Winky D
Tynie: so when should we expect a collaboration of Ninja Kid and Winky D?
Ninja: Anything is possible in the future is the most high allows it to happens but someone i looked up to when i started i would be honored to work with him.
Tynie: Who would you like to share a stage with?
Ninja: I would love to share the stage with many of the well known names in the Zimbabwe scene but would love to share the stage with anyone internationally
Tynie: When should we expect your first album?
Ninja: I'm yet to work on an album, but I am keen on working on one in the near future
Tynie: You responded to Seh Calaz - Mafia kureva, why was this?
Ninja: I have nothing against Seh Calaz but i felt as a veteran Winky D would not retaliate so i took it upon myself to respond. I believe we ought to respect those who came before us and Winky is a legend in our young industry and ought to be treated with respect.
Tynie: Having so many artists in the industry what keeps you going??
Ninja: My faith keeps me going and the dream i have to succeed not only in music but in life
Tynie: Why join abra tribe?
Ninja: I joined Abra Tribe because i needed assistance in furthering my career but i quickly realized that it was more than a team but a family that believed in my potential and would do anything to see me do well. For that i am thankful
Tynie:  If you never had the opportunity to sing, what would you have done instead and why?
Ninja: I probably would have been a footballer, i used to play for Dynamos Juniors
Tynie:  Do you play any instruments and what’s your favourite?
Ninja: I don't play any instruments  but i would love to learn.
Tynie: You have performed enough times, is there that one person you always see at all your shows showing some love
Ninja: I perform on a regular basis and run into different acts all the time
Tynie:  If you were to have a super power what would you prefer and why?
Ninja: If i were a super hero i would be Superman  l  enjoy helping  people
Tynie: If you were an animal what would you be?
Ninja: If I were an animal i would be a monkey because l love monkeys they and they  look like  Ninjas lol.
Tynie: If you were to have a super power what would you prefer and why?
Ninja: If I were a super hero i would be Superman, l enjoy helping  people
Tynie:  What’s your idea of a perfect date?
Ninja: I'm a simple guy and a simple dinner & movie is good enough for me, its about getting to know someone for me
Tynie: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Ninja: I see myself as an established artist making a difference for the better in this industry. I would love to travel all over especially expanding across Africa.

Music industry in Zimbabwe is tough you don't know who your fans are, it seems like there is more artists than fans, but that doesn't stop some people with a dream! Ninja Kid has been working hard ever since he stepped into the game, and with the help of Abra Tribe I'm expecting greater things from him. He will be on his first UK tour (Zvirikufaya) alongside Terminator, Ricky Fire, Celcius and many more from 26 September to 4 October, for more details 07908258429. MANINJAAAAA!!!

SUMMER FIESTA UK TOUR!

ZimDancehall has upped its game in the past years and the competition is crazy, and more and more people have witnessed this recently when Zimbabwe held its first ZimDancehall Awards with Soul Jah Love -  best collaboration and  best upcoming artist
Seh calaz – best vocalist
Freeman - best album (new chapter)
Shinsoman – best song (mawaya waya)
Guspy warrior  nominated best song (seunononga)
Nox (kupenga kuti pe)  number 1 Top 100
Trevor Dongo (ndashamisika) number 2 in the Top 100
Summer Fiesta is an event that has taken over Facebook, twitter, whatsapp and most social networks you can think of. I say “It’s a DIGITALONE PROMOTION and this year it’s going down”
So most of you wonder why the loud noise, it’s because Digital One has went over and put 7 artists straight from Zimbabwe on their line-up, FREEMAN (Dancehall Doctor- Handina Godo),SHINSOMAN (Dancehall Father-mawaya waya), GUSPY WARRIOR (MAFIA 19 –ita seunononga), SOUL JAH LOVE (GUMKUM –ndongosimudza musoro), SEH CALAZ (MUBHANDITI –mabhanditii), NOX (ndinonyara), TREVOR DONGO (ndashamisika)

I spoke to Digital One International, and asked most of the questions everyone wants to know and what i'm most curious about which is if the all the 7 artists are going to be there for the 3 days.

Tynie: Tell us a bit more about digital one international..
D1: It's a family organisation which includes Calo, Benjy, Luther, Chalie, Munya, Scrilla, Iyk fresh and Star Stige. We do promotional events and we got sound which takes part in sound clashes
Tynie: wow, you got quite a team there but we already know all the obvious, what's the back story?
D1: No I don’t want to go into personal details.
Tynie: What made and inspired you to do such a big tour?
D1: ZimDanceHall is becoming big in Zimbabwe we don't want our local Zim artist to just be known on the national level we want them to go international. ZimDanceHall must be known to all nations this tour is the beginning of a new era, basically focusing on Zimbabwean Talent.
Tynie: you tried to mix up the artists by putting 5 ZimDanceHall artists and 2 urban grooves artists, why did you not think about adding hip hop artists like Tehn diamond, Jnr brown or even Tatea The Mc?
D1: That's why I said it's the beginning of the new era, as much as we would like to bring artist from all categories we not going to jump into it.s
Tynie: i guess its one step at a time then. Some of the greatest people we have seen on tour are Winky D and Stunner what were your reasons for not picking them to be part of your tour?
D1: We have got people like Soul Jah Love, Freeman, Shinsoman and Seh Calaz who are on top of their game in ZimDancehall and we got Nox and Trevor Dongo who are releasing songs and marketing themselves every week.
Tynie:  England has a lot of artists, why only choose one supporting artist to be part of this tour?
D1: We want the artist to showcase themselves and for the fans to enjoy what they have paid for. The purpose of e curtain raiser is to warm up the show that's why we only need one
Tynie:  Sean focus is based in Scotland, didn't D1 think about doing one show in Scotland as well?
D1: No we didn't, Maybe next tour we will consider going as far as Scotland
Tynie  Are all the artists are going to have enough time to perform at least all of their hit songs?
D1: Yes, remember the show will be starting at 8pm.
Tynie:  Is everyone’s visa out yet? And should we expect all the artists to arrive on the same day?
D1: All visas are out and all artist based is Zimbabwe arrive on the same day expect Nox who is travelling from South Africa summer fiesta artists promo
Tynie: Are all the artists going to be staying in one place
      D1: Yes
Tynie: Are fans going to have a chance to take a picture or even have a conversation with their favorite artists?
D1: Yes, without the fans there's no tour neither will there be the artists themselves. its a way to give back the love and show appreciation.
Tynie: Where can people get the tickets?
D1: We release tickets after Easter, but the hotline to call is 07455214945

Food and drinks will be available at all three shows, where there will be a jumping castle, face painters , barbecue (gochi gochi) and kids with talent will be given the chance to showcase themselves at the Manchester show.
      Luton – May 2 , Dunstable Leisure Centre, LU5 4DJ 8pm to 4am
Coventry – Saturday May 3 , Moat House Leisure Centre, Winstone Avenue, CV2 1 EA, 8pm to 4am
Manchester – Sunday May 4, (family event) Sol House 117 Fairfied St, M1 2WG, 2pm to 4am

I guess Digital One doesn't have a lot to say about this tour, you just have to come and see for yourself. So team sing along join me summer fiesta promo mix whilst i get ready for May with my favorite artists on the lineup. Who's yours?

DRUM DADA - TALES OF A GHETTO CHILD

Drum Dada is also meaning drum connoisseur is one of Zimbabwean upcoming and influential musicians. Started his music career at 10 where he was part of a local church choir and having the chance to use music instruments his talent grew wider from just singing. Drum Dada describes his music as the New Chimurenga Music. He points out that his music is not in any way politically afflicted or but the concept behind naming naming his sound New Chimurenga music is derived from the meaning word Chimurenga which means struggle.
He quoted saying 'when i say #NewChimurenga i am referring to the everyday struggles every human being faces. My music touches a lot of life subjects, from the trial and tribulations of life issues #religion #life #corruption #loss #prostitution #poverty and other taboo subjects. I consider my music as the voice of the voiceless. I endeavor to uplift peoples souls give people hope, counsel, and inspire the ghetto children to make something of themselves through ZimDancehall is a platform which helps me broadcast my message to my fans, the children of the ghetto across the globe".

In 2012 he released an 18 track mix tape titled 'The Drum Call/ Ngoma Yorira' which was mixed and hosted by the legendary disc jockey King Alfred. The mix tape received positive feedback from the fans and music industry. A well re-owned critic Hillary Mutake of PunchLINE Music tipped Drum Dada as musical force to be reckoned in the future.
2013 saw Drum Dada releasing 2 music videos titled 'Number one Fan' featuring his label mate and award winning producer McKnife. The second video Drum Dada added to his catalogue was titled 'Zvipande'. Its now 2014 and Drum Dada has released his first studio album 'Tales of a Ghetto Child' which is a double album released on 15 march 2014 via ITunes and Google Play.  The first single off the album is an international charity single 'I Cry' featuring Tyran Dillinger, released of 5 February 2014. proceeds from the single were said to be donated to The Jenny Msonza Foundation, a Zimbabwean Women's charity group based in the United Kingdom but has empowered projects operating in Zimbabwe and the Diaspora. The second single off the album features a Zimbabwean UK based artists by the name of Nash Daddie titled 'Moyo Wangu' was released 7 March 2014 and so far the 2 singles have received positive reviews from industry critics and his fans.

The 'Tales of a Ghetto Child' album will consist of top quality productions and collaborations from both Zimbabwean and international producers and artists from in and outside Drum Dada's musical play field. The album will see collaborations with UK best reggae artists Mathius Julius , rappers Nash Daddie and Brian Major, South African based Yottie-Bie, Zim Hip Hop award winner recipient rapper and producer McKnife, songstress Mod-A-Star, Azel, just to mention a few. Producers who have worked hard in the album include UK based Jusa Dementor, Jamaaican based Cutty Ranks, Canadian based Zimbirds and the Zimbabwean based producers include Dj Fidelis, Layaan, Cashlibs, DollaGettaz just to mentions a few. As for the future holds for Drum Dada, only God knows but it seems that Zimbabwe and the world i see the #newchimurenga movement grow from strength to strength.

Having the chance to be one of the first to listen to Drum Dada's album i also had the opportunity to ask him a few questions. Have a look at what he has to say...

Tynie: I understand in 2012 you were called Fada Wemangoma and you decided to change it to Drum Dada to appeal internationally. Why Drum Dada, does the name have a backstory?
Drum Dada
After I got signed, my music started getting a lot of online and international exposure and the international radio station disc jockeys in places like Germany, Ghana and Uganda couldn't pronounce my full name properly, so my management decided to re-brand me to Drum Dada to match the international vision we had adopted. Drum Dada is the reversal of Fada WeMangoma in English plus the fact that I am a proficient drum player sat well with me.
Tynie: How did you kick start your career as an artist, apart from knowing you have talent whilst singing in the church choir?
Drum Dada: I come from a very musical family,so music was something which I was instilled in me at a young age. My family always encouraged me to express myself musically. The first song I ever recorded was called “Ndachatiswa” in 2011. The record managed to get some airplay and it was received positively by the public. The response from the record, made me more confident to take music as a career seriously.
Tynie: You also play instruments which one is your favorite?
Drum Dada: I can play the guitar (bass), and drums but as my name suggests I am more proficient in playing drums.
Tynie: Apart from legends in the Zimbabwean music industry who else inspires you to do what you do?
Drum Dada: Apart from Zimbabwean legendary musicians, I draw a lot of inspirations  from artists like “Lucky Dube” “Bob Marley” “Movado” “Beenie-Man” “Hugh Masekela” “Wyclef Jean” “Barbara Streitsand” “Elton John” & “Sam Cooke”
Tynie: What do you have in store for your fans for the future?
Drum Dada: I am currently working on material for my second album. I hope to experiment with new sounds and maybe collaborate with some of my Zimbabwean icons. I am also preparing for a national and international touring program (Zim, UK, Germany) at the moment, so my fans should look out for more entertaining and educative music
Tynie: Back to ‘tales of a ghetto child’ is this your first album?
Drum Dada: Tales of A Ghetto Child is my first album, though I have been releasing singles for some time now
Tynie: What made you choose the title ‘tales of a ghetto child?
Drum Dada: I was born and bred in the Chitungwiza ghetto, so most of what I talk about in my music is inspired by the everyday happenings of the ghetto life. It was fitting that I name my album from the Hub which I draw inspiration from.
Tynie: What inspired you to do such a big album?
Drum Dada: I didn’t  just want to release a compilation of tracks which would wither and become irrelevant with time. I wanted to take my fans on a musical journey. I wanted to connect with them on their highs and lows, relate with them on their level whether be struggles or triumphs. I also wanted to inspire and raise awareness of the issues people in the ghetto and Zimbabweans living under the poverty line  face every day, so I felt I had to come up with a track catalogue which connected with my fans on a mental, emotional and spiritual level with lessons which can be passed on to the next generation.
Tynie: The album has over 30 songs how much work did you have to put into it before you got the final copy?
Drum Dada: It took over a year to actually, produce, write, record and compile the album and when you working with perfectionists, the quality control is rigorous. A lot of re-recordings and alterations to the album were done to bring the final product to an international standard.
Tynie: You have some collaboration in there what made you choose those artists over others?
Drum Dada: Well, I am fan of some of the producers and collaborators who are on the album. I wanted to work with them and experiment with their sounds and at the same time tap into their creativity. Some of the collaborators were strategically handpicked because their art, style and delivery suited the vision of the project.
Tynie: Should we expect music videos off this album?
Drum Dada: We are currently in the creative development stages of producing a videobook / DVD compilation of some of the tracks on the album, hopefully by end of May-June the world will see some of the visuals to some of the tracks on the album.
Tynie: Where can people get your album?
Drum Dada: The Digital version of album is available for downloaded via Itunes, Amazon, Google Play, Soundcloud and Spotify, but the Hardcopy (CD) version will be made available to selected retailers in Zimbabwe in the forthcoming weeks.

TYNIE TASHA: INSTEAD OF HEARING FROM ME, GET YOURSELF A COPY OF THE ALBUM AND MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT, TALES OF A GHETTO CHILD.

ZIMBABWE CUP CLASH UK 2014

Zim Cup Clash 2013
A place where people enjoy themselves.
A place where you learn one or two things about how Zimbabweans party.
A place where you experience how Zimbabwean deejays rise to any occasion.
A place where you experience how more than 1000 Zimbabwean ravers don't need security because of unity and love.
Experience how Zimbabweans socialize with other races through music. Celebrating its 9th year anniversary New Generation entertainment presents ZIMBABWE CUP CLASH UK 2014 –KING ALFRED

Days moving, tension building, for it is that time of the year were 2 Djs Dancehall and Afrobeats are crowned best clashing Dj. The question is who is going to kill and who is going to be killed we will find out on 29 March 2014 at Dunstable Leisure Center as 12 Djs go head to head to win. With hot food on sale all night, a great venue a full bar and the best entertainment over 1000 ravers turn up to witness and be the judges of the musical event. With a touch of a Zimbabwean Artist (Killer T - Tirikumhanya) flying in there is more to expect. Killer T will be sharing the stage with local artists including the Djs clashing Real Link Simple Dread Drima Boyz Simply Dubz making a come back from the 2013 clash alongside New Money, Starbwoy, Dj Lavaman, Bend Ova, Dj Nyari, Dj Stixx, Dj Cosmo, Dj Wardz. I got a chance to speak to most of these Djs including the man behind this successful event King Alfred.
Lets hear what they have to say...

KING ALFRED
Tynie: you are known as the father in the Zimbabwean community when it comes to music. Zimbabwe cup clash is one of the biggest event everyone looks forward to every year, and you get big Djs who want to be part of it. Whats your little secret in making all this happen?
King Alfred: First of all i want to thank you for giving me this opportunity to speak to you. Back to business now, well most people call me father but i don't why but i guess because i got two children loool. There is no secret really for making it all this happen or for people to come to Zimbabwe Cup Clash its only i'm a humble person so my parents thought too respect everyone that's why i have even started by thanking you.I have been working with so many people in this industry from a longtime ago and i even helped so many to become promoters or deejays  but i can't mention names..Promotion is all about love, unity, respect, focus the list goes on that's why you see so many people want to be part of it and don't forget when it started only few people use to come but through undying love and support from the people we kept going up to now.
Tynie: Zim cup clash is definitely not a pageant where you have judges, why is this?
King Alfred: you are actually correct u don't need a panel of judges to this event because the djs plays music to the people so the audience have to choose who they want. If you play good the crowd will vote for you and there is no two ways about it because I'm talking from experience. I was involved in clashes before and i won so many trophies may be more than most of the djs or sounds.I will give you an example back in the days i remember back in 1996 it was clash that involved i think 6 sounds in Zimbabwe and the compere asked the crowd who won the clash and the compere wanted to give it to a loosing sound and the audience had to fight for us to clash again and because i was better the sound on the night he had no choice but to give it to me because i deserved it on the night. So good music good communication with fans will take up there.
Tynie: this is the 9th year and the event has been different every year, what should we look forward to this year?
King Alfred: This year expect some fire works because we have lots of surprises on the night and also since we are celebrating 9 years in the running it will be nice for those who have never been there before to come and see and experience what they were missing all along.
king alfred
Tynie: is there a reason why we only have 2 categories at the clash?
King Alfred: Thank you for this question, remember we use to only have dancehall for almost 7 years without anything but as we are growing we thought introduce Afrobeats since we are from Africa and we got a lot of criticism from most of Africans about doing Dancehall only. And by that we had to listen to positive criticism even though we don't please everyone but we always try our best. Remember I'm using the word WE because its not only Fatherkingalfred's show but its everyones show, always make it happen. With that Tynie Tasha i would like to thank you so much for giving me this platform to share others about ''Zimbabwe Cup Clash Uk.'

REAL LINK (Dancehall Cup Clash winners 2013)
Real Link Sound
Majezy B and Marcus Irie
Tynie: who started real link and when did it start?
Real Link: Real Link is a sound that was formed in November 2012, by Majezy B after he left Bobo Hill Sound and wanted to do his won thing.
Tynie: its got everyone's attention that Majezy B will not be clashing with real link and that there will be someone replacing him on the day. can you comment on that please?
Real Link: might be true since in Real Link sound we do have talented young youths, Majezy B has done his share.
Tynie: you have one of the strongest djs in the clash to date from the past 5 years, do you think without him the chance of winning is lessen?
Real Link: every clash comes with different challenges so its in the best interest of every sound to do their homework and do the best they can on the night as for Real Link with or without Majezy B we will still come and deliver to the best of our ability its up to the crowd to decide.
Tynie: in the past year not only did you win Zim Cup clash but you also won Birminghams fines. what have you been doing with your titles?
Real Link: we would like to thank our fans for the titles, Real Link is a resident sound in a club in Birmingham we have been keeping shows there even booking other Djs from different cities.
Tynie: what would you like to say to other participants?
Real Link: we would like to wish everyone a very good luck and do remember its all about the love of music and don't take it personal lets have fun on the night, may the best sound win (big up King Alfred) whenever you are in Birmingham on a Friday or Saturday night come check us out at Saigon Club B66 2QF. Stay blesse

SIMPLE DREAD (Dancehall Cup Clash runner up)
Tynie: Zim cup clash is about music and the industry is big. what made you choose bashment instead of Afrobeats?
simple dread
Simple Dread: when it comes to bashment i'm the master and i bring something different, i can get in the Afrobeats section and winning it too but i want to prove something this year.
Tynie: you were runner up in 2013, what have you got different for us this year?
Simple Dread: i didn't choose to be in the clash last year, Skillz The Don put my name through without telling me because he believed i could get in the final of which i did so i automatically get in the 2014 clash. This year i have got bare new things and i feel i can win it this time as i have the best selection I've ever had in my life i'm firing warning shots to my opponents now because this year 'ndirikubeba kunge iron yemarasha'.

NEW MONEY
Tynie: tell me why join the clash now?
new money
New Money: new money knows how to entertain the crowd especially Zimbabwean Crowds. we are the peoples sound, and its only right to prove it at the clash in front of our fans and top Djs.
Tynie: there is the hype with Djs whether they are clashing or not about dubplates. Has New Money got to an extend of bagging up new dubplates just for the clash?
New Money: the crowd at the clash wants to be entertained if the dubs are good enough to do that then fair enough. regarding new money getting new dubs made i guess i will find out on the day but if we do win i promise it wont be because we have the best dubs but because we know how to mix and hype the crowd.

BENDOVA
Tynie: who would you definatley like to go head to head with in the final, why?
Bend Ova: we don't care who we clash with in the final as we are confident in our abilities and know that all the Djs are good in their own ways. The good thing is we know of the Djs at a personal level and have pitted our wits against each other several times. four of us met last month for Brets' birthday and warnings were sent.
Tynie: if you win the clash this year what would you do as the champions to show your appreciation to your fans?
Dj Bret, Dj Munya, Selector Godson
Ben Ova: there is no Bend ova without fans and unlike last year when everybody was asking who is Bend Ova, this year will get to know the us. Our motto is - your pleasure is our business, and we guarantee maximum entertainment. We will happily work with other Djs for the advancement of music especially ZimDancehall.
Tynie: why did you name your sound Bend Ova?
Bend Ova: Bend Ova has been interpreted different by many people and we leave people to use their imagination. but we didn't want to come across as a boring entity but something that sticks in peoples mind eg 'are you out tonight....yeah man i'm going to Bend Ova!' and there's also a dance linked to Bend Ova RDX - bendover , wait for the clash and you will see. and its not Bend Ova sound....na na na its simply BEND OVA!!!

STARBWOY

starbowoy
Tynie: you were in the clash years ago, whats the motivation to come back?
Starbwoy: well Glamour Sound is a juggling and a clash sound so when this phone call came we sat down spoke with the team and thought it was the right time to come back as we've been away from the clash side of business for the last 4 years, so just know Starbwoy coming in strong and on point.
Tynie: can we hear or see some of the things you have been putting together in the last year?
Starbwoy: well you could do a lot in the year preparing for the clash but on the day it could be a different setting and you have to change your whole set as well. if its dubplates i didn't just collect them for the clash ive had them made ever since i started in the industry. but here is one - Badman - nahlong talkin (starbwoy)
Tynie: what would you like to say to 2013 winners and your competition?
Starbwoy: be on point because one slip up Starbwoy Glamour Sound will take the cup.

LAVAMAN
dj lavaman
Tynie:  you are a dj at TNC, did your team put you up to joining the clash and why?
Dj Lavaman: my team didn't really put me up to it but we discussed about it and i felt it was a good idea since i'm looking to showcase what i am about to the African scene because i am more main stream Dj in the English club scene.
Tynie: music djing can be a hobby or a profession. which one do you represent as a dj and why?
Dj Lavaman: Djing is a hobby and also a profession to me because i love music and i would Dj any day anytime for the love of it, but why not turn the hobby into a profession and make money at the same time.

DRIMA BOYZ (Afrobeats Cup Clash winners 2013)
neb moyo and tafadzwa muzorewa
Tynie: winning the zim cup clash 2013 (afrobeats) what have you been doing with your title to date?
Drima Boyz: we have done Bootcamp as usual for its a yearly event, Virgo Bash, other than that not much. Its been a slow year for us because of our careers taking most of our time. Back in the years we were students and even with part time jobs they allowed us to do events and get bookings week in and week out.
Tynie: you mainly known for house music, why haven't you thought of doing something and getting house category in Zim cup clash?
Drima Boyz: just because you are good with certain type of music doesn't mean u have to stick to one, playing Afrobeats at the clash is Drima boyz showcasing to people who don't know us that a good Dj is versatile no mater what. with the event getting bigger and better every year maybe soon there will be more categories like before there was only Dancehall.

SIMPLY DUBZ ( Afrobeats Cup Clash runner up)
simply dubz
Tynie: your first clash in 2013 u were runner up. do you think with that experience you know all the pros and cons to get you the title this year?
Simply Dubz: 2013 clash was a major learning curve for me. Being the first clash that I've participated in, I can say that I learned a lot in terms of how the crowd respond to particular songs however I wouldn't say as such that I know all the pros and cons. I'm still new to the clash and being the youngest in it means that there is always plenty of opportunities for me to learn new things so just like 2013 am pretty sure that in 2014 I will leave the clash with more knowledge. Its just that this time I will hopefully have a trophy to add to the knowledge.
Tynie: you were nominated for best dj at Zimma13 and now u nominated again for same category at the ZAA and you one of the youngest dj, what is giving you the motivation?
Simply Dubz: I am truly humbled by the nominations for these awards. It means a great deal to me knowing that there are people out there acknowledging me for my skills and talent and of course anyone in the game that really loves what they do will always be motivated by such achievements however I try my best not to let it get to my head. To me I have to keep reminding myself that there are people out there that have done so much more than me and there are people that are hungry to be in the same position as me so the day that I think to myself  I've made it' is the day that someone is going to take my place. Having said that, I come across people every day that are supporters of the Simply Dubz movement and they are always saying things like 'I really like your latest Mix CD' or 'Your radio show was good last week'. To me there is no motivation greater than this.

DJ NYARI
dj nyari
Tynie: the winner is chosen by the audience, whats your take on this?
Dj Nyari: i believe it should be chosen on skills as a dj.
Tynie: so would you say it would be more fair and legit if there was judges? and who would deserve to be on the panel?
Dj Nyari: yes i believe so, Tim2Soxx, King Alfred , Roblife...
Tynie: have you ever thought of being the the dancehall category instead?
Dj Nyari: i am versatile i play everything i wouldn't mind

DJ STIXX
dj stixx
Tynie: most people think afrobeats is Nigerian music, whilst others think dancehall is Jamaican music. What do you think?
Dj Stixx: afro from my understanding is a term used to refer to the African tradition/things from Africa. Put that together with beats and you have beats from Africa. Afrobeats to me refers to a broad spectrum of music which falls under further genres.
Tynie: what do you think is the greatest skill as a dj to actually with the clash?
Dj Stixx: the greatest skill you need is knowing the music

DJ COSMO
Tynie: why did you join Zim cup clash?
Dj Cosmo: just for fun and need to bring class to it
dj cosmo
Tynie: mentioning class, are you saying the event isn't classy enough?
Dj Cosmo: the event itself is classy. after being the main Dj hosting in 2013, i wasn't impressed with the competitors. Cosmo brings class and professionalism into anything that is my motto.
i didn't join to win, but just to enjoy what i do best and that is to play music for masses.

Dj Wardz
Tynie: tell us a bit more about Wardz?
Dj Ward: Leicester Midlands is where i am based. Djing really started as a hobby and then i thought i would love to play in front of people and i love the feeling of seeing people and i love the feeling of seeing people enjoy themselves because of the music i am playing, so that was one of the main reasons i got into Djing. I have played all over the UK to different kinds of people. I am part of 2 groups #D2Ent and #TeamD.UK. 2014 is my first time participating at the Cup Clash, hopefully that wont be to my disadvantage.
Tynie: what makes you think you can scoop the Afrobeats trophy?
Dj Wardz: erm I don't know if i'm going to win the clash but be sure that i am going to give it a go. I will try read the crowd really that's the best way I think I might be able to win it.
Tynie: what would you like to say to the other djs out there hesitating to clash?
Dj Wardz: to the other Djs out there who are hesitating to clash I would say just do it because at the end of the day playing music is what you do so why wouldn't you want to play in front of new people and show them what you can do, unless you are one of those djs who just play in your houses.

JAH HANIEF
Tynie: you are known as the maddest dj and entertainer not only to the zimbabwean community, why are you hiding behind the scenes as an MC why didn't you join the clash?
Hanief: i would clash only in a world clash...since i have gone international. i think i have achieved a lot in my work and building myself costed me a lot and was a struggle. i'd rather war with Jamaica or UK Djs also mixed with Zim Djs.
Tynie: Hanief let me get this right, Zimbabwean djs are not a good enough challenge for you?
Hanief: yes...look back in 2008 i was in a clash with Jamaica and took 3 trophies and they only took one. so check the levels. i need a big war with different cultures involved. people who don't even know me need to be there watch the 2008 clash here
Tynie: you were in the cup clash years ago and you didn't win it, why is this? do you think you have patched up those little disadvantages and you would get it if you do it again?
Hanief: i only joined the cash because of the hype even though i didn't go through. i worked hard even since, i been in the game 21 years this year. i'd rather clash with someone on my level.
Tynie: what do you want to say to the people clashing on the 29th
Hanief: KILL OR BE KILLED...take no prisoners and don't be the victim...big up every sound man and Dj.

Bend Ova - an empty vessel makes the most noise
Simple Dread - ndiri shark vamwe vese matemba
